Tell us about yourself.
“My name is Alexis Salkey and I am a 22 year old creative director from the Bronx.”
How long have you been a sneaker lover?
“I’ve been a sneaker lover since I was in 3rd grade but I didn’t start really purchasing my own sneakers until college.”
Do you remember your introduction to the sneaker game?
“Definitely! My all white uptowns in 5th grade. I never cleaned them I just bought a new pair. *laughs*”
What is your favorite pair of sneakers?
“My favorite pair of sneakers are my Comme des Garçons high top Converse. They’re my favorite because they are the first sneakers I bought interning in college with my check, my own corporate business money.”
What are you wearing now?
“I’m wearing my olive green Comme des Garçons high top Converse, these pants are from H&M, the top is a Serena Williams graphic tee from Visionary Society, the chains are from ShopByLolita and the personal AForAlexis name chain cant be purchased but that’s on me as well!”
What is your favorite sneaker colorway?
“It changes, but as of right now I can’t get over my Aleali May Court Lux 1s. I love them in terms of the colorway and they’re the perfect sneaker to bring you from spring to fall so I’m definitely rockin’ those.”
If you could collaborate with any sneaker brand, who would you collaborate with and why?
“I would definitely collaborate with Puma. I really love what they did with Rihanna and what they’re doing with women sneakers in general, but I also feel like they would get a bigger following if they collaborated with women in entertainment or music and created a whole brand based off of that. So I would love to see more from them in terms of more sneakers for women.”
What do you think the sneaker game is missing?
“I guess I could say authenticity. I feel like I see lot of people who I know would kill a pair of sneakers in terms of the outfit they are wearing or just the story behind it, but they either cant afford it or it’s just not accessible to them because of sneaker sites and all that type of stuff. I wish sneakers in general were just more accessible to the public and for people who really want them.”
