#SneakerheadProject: Jordan Cole

Tell us about yourself.

“My name is Jordan Cole, I am 28 years old, originally from Sacramento and I am a Creative Producer, Business Consultant, Connector and Stylist.”

How long have you been a sneaker lover?

“I have been loving sneakers since grade school. I've always cared about maintaining my shoes, keeping them clean, and coordinating them with my outfits. I specifically remember being really young and my mom and I had matching Nikes, I would beg her to match with me as much as possible.”

Do you remember your introduction to the sneaker game?

“I remember going to the YMCA as a kid watching my dad and uncles play basketball together in an adult league. They all had on really fly sneakers while effortlessly dressing really swaggy at all times. I still look at old pictures of my parents and they had some of the best outfits.”

What is your favorite pair of sneakers?

“Jordan Black Cement 3s are my favorite sneakers, close second are the Jordan Bred 11s. Both are classic colorways that will forever be timeless. For fitness, the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 SE are elite workout shoes and I'm not embarrassed to say that I have 5 different colorways.”

What are you wearing now?

“Jordan Cement 3s of course. This is the only shoe colorway I own four pairs of; I have a pair for different occasions. A pair for work, play, fashion and to save for later.”

What is your favorite sneaker colorway?

“I really like Travis Scott's Nike colorways he puts out, his shoes are super hard to obtain but I feel like all of his colorways are easy to compliment with outfits.”

If you could collaborate with any sneaker brand, who would you collaborate with and why?

“Dr. Martens, they're not known for sneakers but I'd love to do a fire sneaker boot or a loafer concept with them. A collab with Converse or Vans also would make sense! I would love to create a shoe that has an affordable price point and that has everyday wear versatility.”

What do you think the sneaker game is missing?

“The sneaker game is missing more sports being highlighted; golf, volleyball, tennis, soccer, etc. I think we should get back to sneakers being essential to doing physical activity as well as their purpose with fashion. I want to see people being healthy with style. Making dope shoes and colorways for these spaces in sports would make a big difference in my opinion.”

#SneakerheadProject: Kimberly Coleman

Tell us about yourself.

“Hello, I am Kimberly Coleman and on Instagram I’m @Lofton.Bradley. I’m from Richmond, Virginia, I’m 28 years old and currently I am in law enforcement so I work for the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office.”

How long have you been a sneaker lover?

“I’ve been a sneaker lover probably really this past year. By me being in law enforcement and being new to law enforcement, I saw myself being in relaxed clothes more so I transitioned from heels and stuff to sneakers. So, I would say roughly a year.”

Do you remember your introduction to the sneaker game?

“Yes, so I was introduced to Aleali May from Instagram and I saw how she was putting her sneakers and stuff together with her clothing. A lot of her clothing I feel like you could also dress up with heels so I was like oh that’s cool how she put those sneakers together. Then I was introduced to her 6s and they are pink and I love color, I love print, I love texture so it made me definitely want those. I started incorporating my dresses and my cute little blousy shirts with those sneakers and that’s what led me to wanting to get more sneakers.”

What is your favorite pair of sneakers?

“Currently, I would have to say Aleali May’s pink 6s. Those are my favorite.”

What are you wearing now?

“So I just copped Olivia Kim’s 4s so I’m wearing those and I love texture and she has like real fur on her shoes. Then I have some leather little scrunchy pants, I have this dress from Zara and then this blazer with these ruffle tassels I guess you can call it from Zara too.”

What is your favorite sneaker colorway?

“I would say my favorite colorway for sneakers is definitely texture and prints. Usually I don’t go for the traditional Jordans or traditional sneakers. I like when people into fashion collab with different brands. Like these Olivia Kim’s, they have the fur so I’m into textures, colors and prints.”

If you could collaborate with any sneaker brand, who would you collaborate with and why?

“I definitely think that I would collaborate with Jordan. I would definitely probably do some crazy like cheetah print or like mixed with fur. So definitely Jordan.”

What do you think the sneaker game is missing?

“I feel like the sneaker game is definitely evolving. I feel like it’s a lot of girls who are jumping on the bandwagon. I guess I could say I’m jumping on the bandwagon for comfort but I feel like it’s missing maybe like unique style. I feel like a lot of girls see something and they try to create it but it’s not really them. They don’t have a passion for it. So I feel like whatever you do, make sure it’s you because I feel like authenticity is definitely key. People can see that it isn’t authentic by looking at you so make sure you are comfortable and you love what you have on.”

Tell us about yourself.

“My name is Trishelle Coles, I’m 28 years old from Richmond, Virginia and I’m a Pharmacy Technician.”

How long have you been a sneaker lover?

“If I had to guess I would say probably since I was about sixteen, officially.”

Do you remember your introduction to the sneaker game?

“Yes, honestly it was through an ex boyfriend. He was into sneakers real heavy and got me into it too. It started off with SBs.”

What is your favorite pair of sneakers?

“I have to say my favorite pair would be the Jordan Cool Grey 11s.”

What are you wearing now?

“Today I have on some Stranger Things Nike Blazers, a green crop top from Urban Outfitters and a pair of mom jeans from Hollister.”

What is your favorite sneaker colorway?

“I’m going to have to go with the Yeezy Wave Runners. I love that colorway.”

If you could collaborate with any sneaker brand, who would you collaborate with and why?

“Definitely Nike. I love what they do with their sneakers and how they move in general. I love everything about Nike, the way they collab with different stylists, colorways and stuff like that. Just all Nike.”

What do you think the sneaker game is missing?

“As of right now, honestly nothing. I think the sneaker game has come a long way as far as women and different sizes and styles. So I think they are doing a good job of what’s going on right now. I like where the sneaker game is right now.”

#SneakerheadProject: RaShaun
IMG_2297.jpeg

Tell us about yourself.

“My name is RaShaun, I just turned 26 and I’m from Upper Marlboro, PG County, Maryland. I do a lot, I’m actually a graphic designer and I have my own brand called SNEAKHER. I think it’s pretty cool what you guys are doing here giving recognition to women who love sneakers and that’s a part of my brand as well.”

How long have you been a sneaker lover?

“As long as I could remember. I know sneakers are pretty big in PG County in general. I wont say out the womb because obviously I didn’t know much about shoes out the womb but that’s what it feels like.”

Do you remember your introduction to the sneaker game?

“I kinda was just submerged into it automatically. My brother and sister were big on sneakers and that’s really how it started for me.”

What is your favorite pair of sneakers?

“I don’t think I have one. People ask me that all the time and I’m like I don’t know. I can’t choose I have way too many to pick from.”

What are you wearing now?

“I’m wearing me! I’m wearing a SNEAKHER windbreaker and some Satin 1s. I just kept it cool, calm and collected, that’s how I like it, that’s my style.”

What is your favorite sneaker colorway?

“The Bred colorway 100%! I feel like if you don’t say Bred then I mean whatchu got going for yourself ? But nah, yeah that’s probably my favorite out of all of them.”

If you could collaborate with any sneaker brand, who would you collaborate with and why?

“Nike/Jordan, just because that has been my lifestyle forever. I mean honestly I would take anything I could get. If I could get Adidas I would take it or Puma, whatever. But definitely Nike or Jordan for sure.”

What do you think the sneaker game is missing?

“Women, 100%. It’s a male dominated industry, clearly. Every time sneakers come out usually the men get the better colors. We just really started getting colorways in maybe 2018 or at least that’s what it seems like and that’s kind of what your brand is doing and what my brand is doing as well. Just giving more recognition to women that deserve it, we wear sneakers, too!”
