#SneakerheadProject: Dom
Tell us about yourself.
“My name is Dom, I’m 27 years old from the Bronx and I’m an artist (painter). I also work for Nike.”
How long have you been a sneaker lover?
“I’ve been a sneaker lover pretty much my whole life. My mom and dad were really into fashion so I kinda grew up on that.”
Do you remember your introduction to the sneaker game?
“I can’t say I remember my intro to the sneaker game but I will say that I started getting into sneakers in elementary school. I went to a private school and we wore uniform so whenever we had gym that was kinda like our moment to wear kicks and everybody was super competitive with it. I started to get into Jordans around that time.”
What is your favorite pair of sneakers?
“My favorite pair sneakers I would say are classic all white low cut Air Force 1s because I just feel like it goes with everything.”
What are you wearing now?
“Footwear wise I have on the Nike ZoomX Vista Grinds and they are super comfy! I also have on Nike biker shorts and my top is from Zara.”
What is your favorite sneaker colorway?
“I have two. I either like classic all white or all white with a pop of color so like anything neon, yellow, green or pink.”
If you could collaborate with any sneaker brand, who would you collaborate with and why?
“I would say Nike being that I work with them I get to see first hand how they interact with the people they do collaborations with. I feel like they’re super big on innovation so they give normal people like us opportunities as well and I think that’s pretty dope.”
What do you think the sneaker game is missing?
“I feel the sneaker game is missing more female representation. Women like Aleali and Serena are holding it down but there are so many dope women who are a part of the street style community and sneaker world that definitely should get more recognition.”
